'Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse' Incompletely Translated Even After Official Release, Developer Says Sorry [VIDEO]
As if errata like a mistranslation or, worse, lines of texts forgotten to be translated are a case that only happens in the homebrew scene as a result of human error by fans, Atlus made a similar blunder. Its recently released 3DS game, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, was found with some lines of texts that are still left in its original Japanese writing, Siliconera reports.
Atlus did not deny the mistake, admitted the blunder through a post on their official webpage."We're going to look into being able to fix it, but we don't know if it's feasible or if we even have a timetable for it, but as soon as we know something one way or the other, we'll let you know," Atlus said in a statement.
However, in line with Atlus apology towards its consumers, the company also stated a logical reason as to why the error will be left hanging in the official release of the game. They also discussed how the unlocalized texts will be triggered should people want to see them first-hand.
As it appears, the prevailing primary cause of the mistake is indeed a result of human error. It is something that will not appear to gamers until the later part of the game in addition to meeting the right condition: your partner will get knocked out during a certain boss fight. Well-versed in the franchise, Atlus testers were said to be "too good" in the game, which thereby did not trigger the error, until in another instance, when the game is a day away from officially getting released.
Although a patch would be a very likely solution to the problem at this point, Atlus is still in the process of "investigating" the matter and still inconclusive as to when the patch will be developed to address the raised problem. Why this is so may also have to do with the company's existing big project in localizing Persona 5, a game which just seen its official release in Japan.
