Clash Royale and Pokemon Go are clearly different from each other when it comes to game mechanics, which is why it is technically irrelevant to compare them.

However, their performance stats and gross income in the past months have linked the two popular games to each other. Apparently, Pokemon Go went down from number 1 to number 2 on the list of top-grossing applications in the App Store and it is all because of Clash Royale.

With all due credit, Pokemon Go has spent two good months at the number one spot right after its release. However, that two good months ended in September 19, when Clash Royale took its spot. Needless to say this doesn't mean that Niantic's game is inferior to the Clash Royale. This just means that the Supercell's game just received more purchases than the Pokemon Go.

Although Clash Royale took Pokemon Go's spot as the highest-earning game in the App Store, this doesn't mean that the augmented reality game can no longer retake its crown. Apparently, Clash Royale has released an update that offered more new cards so it got its players into a shopping spree, the official Clash Royale website indicated. This means that if Pokemon Go would release its own update, it could overtake Clash Royale again.

Pokemon Go And Clash Royale's Popularity Compared

Pokemon Go became instantly popular after its release in July. In fact, it is the faster game to reach $500 million in profit, VentureBeat reported. It remains to be seen, though, what moves will its developers make to keep their players interested.

Clash Royale on the other hand, proved to the gaming world that popularity doesn't need to be short lived, and competition is not always a problem. The fact that even in the existence of strong competitions, Clash Royale still managed to get on top. It goes to prove that the game is still as successful as it was when it was first release.
