Minnesota Timberwolves Trading Ricky Rubio To Denver Nuggets for Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler?
The buzz surrounding the trade rumors surrounding Ricky Rubio have become louder, as he is now being linked to the Denver Nuggets in recent trade scenarios floating around.
The said rumors continue to be rampant, despite a previous declaration by Timberwolves team owner Glen Taylor that the 25-year-old point guard will not be traded. According to a July report by ESPN, the rumors surrounding Rubio began to sprout out upon the draft of fellow point guard Kris Dunn.
But as Taylor pointed out, Rubio is a beloved figure in the team, despite some of his deficiencies that could be worked on. "I just think the coach, everybody, likes Ricky. I think we want him to come in and improve on his shooting. But his other things, he plays defense, he gets assists, he helps the others get better. He has some wonderful qualities," Taylor said.
The trade scenario involving the Nuggets would have forwards Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried head to Minnesota in exchange for Rubio. It is a trade that would be beneficial for both teams, as pointed out in a report by Tim Hart for Fansided's Nugg Love.
For the Timberwolves, having both Chandler and Faried would be an effective forward combo with the former being on the starting five, while the latter comes off the bench. The Nuggets, meanwhile, would benefit from having the presence of Rubio in their line-up, particularly the young guards who can learn a lot from a youthful yet experienced player.
The upped abilities of the Nuggets bench might be enough to make this trade worthwhile. However, much if its success would rely on Jusuf Nurkic's ability to perform. It'd be a bit of a gamble.
Rubio has continued to pile in good numbers since he began his stint with Minnesota in 2011. Last season, he averaged 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists.
