'Dark Souls 3' DLC Updates: New Gameplay Features Gory Combat Scenes
'Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel' won't be available until October 25, but Bandai Namco gave their fans a glimpse of what to expect when they released a gameplay trailer of the video game.
Players who are hoping to see more gore won't be disappointed when they check out the trailer. The main protagonist goes through several levels of battling against creepy and huge monsters. And for each enemy there seems to be a special way of dispatching them.
In one scene, the protagonist uses his sword and shield to attack and defend himself against a much swifter enemy. There is even one instance wherein he had to protect himself from two enemies at once. Even though melee attacks are fairly common in video games, the trailer showed that fighting in such a battle in Dark Souls 3 isn't as easy as it looks.
One scene showed the protagonist using fire to dispatch another enemy. And in another scene, he had to use the same tool to kill of large insects that looked a lot like giant flies. A truly disgusting situation, but for die-hard fans of this fantasy-themed video game, it may just be their cup of tea.
One interesting scene in the trailer was when the protagonist had to fight a much larger enemy by putting away his shield and using a much larger sword. At the beginning of the fight, the enemy seemed to outmatch the hero when the latter was still using his sword and shield.
But then the scene changed and the hero swapped his regular sword with a much longer one. And in order to use the weapon efficiently, he had to put away his shield. It's an interesting tactic, going full tilt offensively and letting his guard down a bit just so the protagonist can defeat his much larger enemy.
Finally, the end of the trailer featured the hero going against a gargantuan enemy, who lobs a huge chunk of rock like it was a baseball bat. According to GameSpot, the giant enemy is a level-boss, which the player would have to exert a lot of effort and strategy to defeat.
