Nintendo NX Games, Release Date, Latest Update: Pokémon Go-Like Game to Be Developed for New Console?
The foreseeable release for Nintendo's successor to Wii U may still be several months away of becoming a reality from the present, as hinted by Nintendo's sheer obscurity and rather minimal revelations on its hardware. But the gaming platform in subject, so-called Nintendo NX, is indeed be a real thing as Nintendo announced it March 2017 launch date.
In fact, as early as now, publishers like The Pokémon Company have already slipped the fact that they will be developing a game title for the upcoming handheld-console hybrid hardware from Nintendo, as initially reported at Engadget.
The idea came when president and CEO to The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, said that "the NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device." An attempt to shed some light to the mystery behind the talked-about console.
For a company that is considered as partly-owned by Nintendo and thereby may have direct access to information coming from the giant company, it is hard not to take such statement as true at this point. For a trending topic as obscure as the Nintendo NX, every little detail, rumor or otherwise, does counts.
As vague as the supposed platform it will be running on, there are not much details disclosed as to the nature of this upcoming Pokémon title to the NX as well. Will the next Pokémon title follow upon the success of Pokémon GO on mobile by taking on a similar approach to concept and design? It is still a mystery yet to be unveiled soon.
But knowing how the major Pokémon titles are after development, they never were a copy of some other company's designs or concept. They stick true to the tried-and-tested formula that keep each game appealing to audiences while also innovating from within by the inclusion of features that makes the games a unique experience from the previous.
However, what is also clear at this point apart from the slated release date for the handheld-console unit are the five games that are confirmed for development for the NX: Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest XI, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Sonic 2017, and Just Dance.
