Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Will the Minnesota Vikings Consider Trade for Marshawn Lynch to Replace Adrian Peterson? [POLL]
The Minnesota Vikings have somehow patched up their running back hole with the signing of Ronnie Hillman to fill-in for Adrian Peterson but such should not stop Mike Zimmer from continuously looking for other alternatives.
With injuries occurring ever so frequent, it would be best for the Minnesota Vikings to explore the market for running backs -- both active and inactive. There were a number of names thrown into the mix recently such as Pierre Thomas and Brandon Wilds, per a previous post. But if the Vikings are looking to make a splash, why not explore the viability of Marshawn Lynch?
Is Lynch interested to play again?
The 30-year-old Marshawn Lynch formally announced his retirement in February, the same day Super Bowl 50 took place. The Seahawks eventually placed him on the reserved/retired list in May and nothing related to playing ball again was heard of.
That was until Mike Florio added some salt on the topic, citing sources claiming that “Beast Mode” was pondering a return to active ball. When word broke out, Marshawn Lynch’s former teammate Michael Robinson cleared the air and said that all of that was rubbish.

Seahawks still hold Marshawn Lynch’s contract
While that has been cleared up, let us assume for a moment that he does end up gaining interest to play NFL ball. He could be a prized addition to the Vikings, but a deal will have to be struck with the Seahawks for that to happen.
Marshawn Lynch would need to ask for reinstatement meaning he will be owed $9 million. That and other financial aspects will need to be covered, meaning the Vikings may be looking to spend big.
If ever Lynch does return, it will be something carrying a lot of risks. Aside from the financial side of things, there is the fire from within and his conditioning. He may have been out for a barely a year but in the NFL, conditioning is key.
Had Lynch been in shape, it would have been grand. But the reality of it all is that the 30-year-old running back has been enjoying retirement and a return seems improbable for now.
