'Train To Busan 2' Rumors, Plot: Prequel Planned? Gong Yoo, Song Joong Ki to trace origin of virus?
One of the most successful movies to come from South Korea in recent years is the zombie film Train to Busan. The film is about a group of people travelling to Busan when a zombie plague hits them while they're on a train.
The film was such a huge success that its fans are already speculating that a sequel is in the works. But seeing that some of the principal characters in the movie didn't make it to the end, the guess is that a prequel is more likely to happen.
According to Movie News Guide, the call for a prequel emerged when the movie became a hit. As of late September, the movie has already reached the $100-million mark, making it one of the most successful movies from South Korea this year.
Also, Gong Yoo, the actor who portrayed the father and main protagonist in the film, Seok Woo, posted on his Twitter page that there will be another installment to the expanding franchise. Gong Yoo didn't specify though if the next film is going to be a prequel to the original film or a continuation of Train to Busan.
Unfortunately, Yeon Sang-ho, the film's director, stated that Gong Yoo won't be in the next film. This suggests that the filmmaker might push through with a sequel and not a prequel.
Fans of the film are still hopeful that a prequel is in the works, seeing that they would like to know how the zombie plague came to be. According to Movie News Guide, Song Joong Ki will join Gong Yoo in the rumored prequel and their characters will somehow be involved in the origins of the zombie outbreak.
So far only rumors are attached to the film franchise and most of them are just wishful thinking from avid fans. But despite that viewers are excited over the fact that the film's director is pushing through with another installment.
