NBA Trade Rumors: John Wall to Detroit Pistons?
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is rumored to be headed to Detroit and possibly suit up for the Pistons.
The said purported piece of news was first caught by Dan Feldman of NBC Sports, wherein a trade involving Wall and power forward Markieff Morris, who will both be shipped to Detroit. In return, the Wizards will get Reggie Jackson, Reggie Bullock, Tobias Harris and two first-round picks for the 2017 NBA draft.
These rumors, however, were immediately shut down by Ben Mehic of Fansided's Wiz of Awes, stating that Wall still has a running contract. The author also pointed out that the only reason for the Wizards to let go of Wall is if they would be getting someone in return of equal value, which at this point, is an impossible scenario.
Wall has been a member of the Eastern Conference NBA All-Star team since 2014, and has won numerous awards during the said festivities, including the Rookie Challenge Most Valuable Player plum in 2011, and the Slam Dunk Contest Dunker of the Night in 2014.
In addition, the Wizards team management are confident that with Wall at the helm, the Wizards would be able to improve their chances for the upcoming season. For the 2015-2016 season, Washington landed at the tenth spot at the standings with a record of 41-41.
"Washington has won big games with Wall as their leader and he's on a cheap contract. Trading him in a package for a non-superstar is something the Wizards would not consider," an excerpt from Mehic's report reads.
Wall, who was selected first overall by the Wizards in the 2010 NBA draft, has been consistent with his yearly output. Last season, he averaged 19.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 10.2 assists. He shot 42.4 percent from the field, through 36.2 minutes of playing time per game. It marked his best and highest output throughout his entire stint in the NBA.
