NBA Trade Rumors: 76ers To Acquire Kyle Lowry for Jahlil Okafor?
There is a brewing trade rumor involving Philadelphia 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor and Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry.
Per the analysis of the ESPN NBA trade machine, it would be an ideal trade to make, considering the cap room of both teams. However, it was projected that with the given trade, the Raptors have decreased their wins by seven, while the Sixers have increased theirs by four.
As pointed out in a report by Brian Boake for Fansided's Raptors Rapture, Toronto would be able to save the remainder of the difference between the salaries of both men. Lowry's earnings is at $12 million, while Okafor's is at $4.78 million.
Another key factor that Boake pointed out was the skill level of Lowry and the off-court behavior of Okafor, both of which are being put in question as of the moment. The said scenario of Lowry heading to Philadelphia is not seen as a distant possibility by Boake, taking into consideration how Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo would approach the situation.
"From the Colangelos' perspective, Kyle Lowry in Philly is as good as it gets. He's from the city, and Bryan traded for him while Raptors GM. Trading for him once again isn't exactly far-fetched," an excerpt from Boake's report reads.
The intent to trade Okafor has been put out for months now, and is mainly anchored on his involvement in a brawl outside of a Boston night club in late 2015. This, despite the sophomore player's impressive numbers last season, when he averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds through 30 minutes of playing time per game.
Lowry, on the other hand, piled in the most significant numbers throughout his entire career. Through 77 games, he averaged 21.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.1 steals. He shot 42.7 percent from the field, through 37 minutes of playing time per game.
