Pokemon GO News, Update: PVP, Multiplayer Battle System Coming Soon
Pokémon GO will have Player-versus-Player (PVP) and Multiplayer Battle System? That's the latest information directly coming from no less than Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara.
Pokémon GO PVP, Multiplayer Battle System
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ishihara revealed that their company is now heading towards the direction of having PVP and multiplayer battle similar to that of leading video games of this era. However, it's not sure whether this Multiplayer Battle System would be massive (MMORPG), Cooperative gameplay (co-op) among other multiplayer options.
With the latest news, Pokémon GO is seen to be expanding, diverting from simply hunting Pokémon characters, but can also do battles in the near future. Ishihara however did not provide any specific timeframe as to when this PVP and Multiplayer Battle System will be implemented.
But based from what the Pokémon CEO mentioned, they might have already begun the planning stage. Here's an excerpt from the interview: "Battling is a category that we do best at Pokémon, after all. It's important to really carefully consider any feature that may increase the difficulty and raise the barrier to entry for more casual users."
Back in July in an interview with GameSpot, Niantic Global Product Marketing Lead Archit Bhargava revealed that the game developer is already exploring the possibilities of having a multiplayer stage on Pokémon GO. Bhargava added that they are on a stage where they are weighing options as far as what a "real-world Pokémon experience should be like."
