‘Stranger Things’ Update: What is Will's Sexual Orientation?
A cast member of "Stranger Things" had to address an issue about his character that strayed a bit from the plot of the series. But Noah Schnapp, the actor who portrays the missing person Will Byers, answered the persistent questions with an intelligence that belied his young age.
Schnapp has been reading a lot of comments about his character, Will Byers, from social media and other media outlets and the constant question everyone is asking is, "Is Will Byers gay?
According to Entertainment Weekly, many viewers are wondering if Will Byers is gay or if any of his friends are. But according to Noah Schnapp even if his character is gay that's not the point of the show.
"Stranger Things" is about a group of boys who have been caught in the midst of peculiar events happening in a small, fictitious suburban town in America. In the beginning of the series, Will suddenly disappears, which sent his mom, played by Winona Ryder, into a frantic search for him.
Will's friends are also trying to find him and while they're searching for their friend, other strange occurrences are emerging in their town, one particular oddity is the emergence of a girl with telekinetic abilities.
But other than the weird incidents in the show some of the viewers are wondering about another aspect of Will Byers and the thing they want to know is if he's gay. Schnapp went on Instagram to respond to the queries but for those who are expecting a straight answer, they might be disappointed.
Schnapp spoke about an author, Gary Schmidt, who went to his school to talk about stories. Schnapp said that the author told them a good story leaves its readers with more thoughts to ponder on instead of answers to satisfy their curiosity. And if the viewers of "Stranger Things" are asking a lot about the series then he's happy with that.
As for his character, Schnapp doesn't care if Will Byers is gay or not, nor does he care. According to Variety, he thinks that the fact that Will and his friends are outcasts in their own town is something much more interesting to ponder on and something that a lot of kids and adults could relate to.
