WWE Superstar Paige Proposes to Alberto Del Rio on the Ring!
Former world champion Alberto Del Rio, who was recently released by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) last September, received a surprising proposal in the middle of the ring from fellow wrestler WWE Superstar Paige.
After the match, wrestling fans in Puerto Rico got one hell of a show Sunday night when Paige climbed in the ring... and POPPED the question.
Alberto del Rio was facing off against Carlito at a WWC event, when his girlfriend got past the ropes and dropped down to one knee.
"We are a wrestling couple so 'the cheesier the better'", Paige told Pro Wrestling PR via Facebook.
Both wrestlers who came from wrestling families (Del Rio's father is luchador Dos Caras, his brother and cousins also wrestle, while Paige's parents are both professional wrestlers in England) had been showing up together across social media for a couple of months already.
The proposal is just one of interesting twists and turns the couple have gone through in the past few months.
The couple received a dual 30-day suspension back in August, Rolling Stone notes. In early September, coincident to the news of Del Rio's release from WWE, there was a rumor that Paige quit the company, too. News surfaced later that Paige had not quit, but was recently suspended again, this time for 60 days, for violating the company's wellness policy a second time.
Paige is one of the bright stars in the WWE, but her future is also unclear. With the growing women's division, Paige could definitely be at the top as either a face or heel, but her TV appearances also became less frequent.
And as far as the very engagement is concerned, Del Rio is still reportedly legally married, which could lead to another strange twist in the story of two great wrestlers and their very eccentric saga.
