WWE Rumors 2016: Where Does James Elsworth Fit In?
James Elsworth doesn’t possess the natural body that would place him along the star built to take in the physicality. He is seen nothing more than a mascot or pawn, mostly for show.
As most know by now, the ‘chinless wonder’ officially got a WWE contract when he battled heavyweight champion AJ Styles in the Nov. 23 edition of SmackDown. Elsworth got big help from his buddy Dean Ambrose once more though many know the drill.
Moving forward, it begs to ask what path Elsworth is headed? Will he follow the route of “Hornswoggle”? Or will he eventually show he can compete in the ring like “Spike” Dudley before?
Right now, it could be anything but the thing is that James Elsworth is there plainly for show and storylines. For now, he is expected to be Dean Ambrose’s sidekick and Styles’ chief nemesis.
But what about his wrestling career? Can Elsworth really handle the physical nature of the WWE when called upon? Will he bulk up to avoid injuries moving forward?
There are apparently a lot of things to address if Elsworth is to move beyond the comical character tag. He could feud with Baron Corbin, someone who dislikes him because of the opportunities Elsworth is getting instead of him, Bleacher Report reported.
If not, he could be a target of the Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt may share the same sentiment of Corbin or perhaps take the lead in ridding the WWE of someone who obviously cannot wrestler.
Anything is possible but there is an intangible that needs to be considered – Elsworth’s popularity. Since he got a push, there is no question that the seemingly dumbfounded character has been accepted by the WWE Universe. That said, how can the company take advantage?
For now, he will be the lighter side of things between the feud of Styles and Ambrose. At some point, the Ambrose-Elsworth partnership will end. Once that happens, he could be eased out of the WWE scene, the same way other upstarts were silently pulled out of the limelight.
