Miami Heat Injury Updates: Almost Half Of Heat's Roster Uncertain To Play On Monday Game Against Celtics?
The Miami Heat would face the Boston Celtics on Monday with an incomplete squad as some of their players were reported to be out and questionable-to-play.
According to CBS Sports, Miami Heat sophomore Justise Winslow were ruled out to play against the Celtics due to a sprained left wrist. The Heat determined more than 24 hours before game time that he won't be in line to return despite that the team checking in on his condition on a day-to-day basis.
It was unclear when did Winslow sustain his injury but he said that he's been dealing with it for several weeks though he hasn't missed any games in that time. Winslow will miss his eighth straight game on Monday.
On the other hand, there are four Heat players who were questionable-to-play on Monday based on a report by CBS Sports. They are guards Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters, Wayne Ellington and Forward/Center Willie Reed.
Dragic missed the last two games because of a strained left elbow that he initially picked up during Monday's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Dragic was reported receiving treatments this week to deal with his elbow but he still having issues with dribbling, shooting and passing.
Dragic remains hopeful that he could still play against the Celtics. If he fails to make dramatic progress at Monday's morning shootaround, he will likely be forced to sit out another contest.
Dion Waiters was listed questionable too due to a groin injury. However, he has been on and off the injury report last week but he has yet to miss any games because of the issue and in fact, he scored 28 points, 6 assists and five rebounds in 36 minutes of playing.
Wayne Ellington has not yet resumed full practice after suffering a deep right thigh bruise from the offseason. The Heat will determine whether Ellington could play in Monday's shootaround.
Lastly, Willie Reed was also questionable after missing the last four games of the Heat because of a hyperextended right knee. Reed's condition on Monday's shootaround will indicate if he can suit up or not.
Tyler Johnson, Josh Richardson and McGruder will be expected to have extended minutes on the guard rotation while Josh McRoberts and Udonis Haslem will be the backup center for Hassan Whiteside. The tip-off will start at 7:30pm EST in American Airlines Arena.
