NBA Trade Rumors: Anthony Davis Moving To Raptors? Pelicans Center To Team-up With DeRozan And Lowry?
The Toronto Raptors are on a hunt again this season for another shot at the NBA Finals as there are rumors that team is chasing for a deal that will land Anthony Davis to the Toronto in a five-player trade.
Although the Raptors were beaten by the eventual NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, they were still considered as one of the teams that can challenge Cavs in East this season. They have a 10-6 win-loss record and they rank 2nd in the East behind Cavaliers.
The Raptors dominance this season was due to the tandem of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. Both of them showed great improvement in almost every aspect of their game especially in their ability to score and leadership to the team.
Last season, DeRozan averages 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steal. But this season, he was even more impressive as he averages 30.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals and he was 3rd in the league in scoring behind Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis.
On the other hand, Lowry averages 19.6 points, 7.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest so when you combined their averages this season, one-third of the Raptors scoring was from them.
The Raptors are looking good right now but it looks like they are still not good enough to beat the Cavs in a playoff series. Although they have two All-Stars in DeRozan and Lowry, the Cavs still have three All-Stars in the named of Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James which was the most dangerous players on the court in the playoffs.
For them to have a better chance in claiming the throne in the East, they need to add another All-Star caliber player to their lineup and according to HNGN, Anthony Davis could be the missing piece for the Raptors.
The deal was to ship Anthony Davis to Toronto Raptors in exchange for Terrence Ross, Jonas Valanciunas, DeMarre Carroll and a future first-round draft pick.
According to ESPN, Davis had also a breakout year in this NBA season as he has been averaging 31.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. Davis rank 1st in scoring as well as blocks and 7th in rebounds.
Davis is probably in the top five best players in the league right now but his team is struggling quite a bit that's why Davis' performance was sometimes nullified because of the losses and lack of capable supporting cast prevents him from getting victories.
If this NBA trade rumor will push through and be a reality, Davis will play for the Raptors alongside DeRozan and Lowry which could be a birth to a new big three. The Raptors plays a team game which will be beneficial for Davis.
According to HNGN, playing in the East will be much better for Davis because the East is not that tough comparing to the West and with Davis on the Raptors roster, they might have a better chance of dethroning the Cavs and moving up to the NBA Finals.
