Marvel’s 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Update: Opening Scene Sneak Peek, Peter Quill’s Punishment From Ravagers Revealed!
The first official sneak peek of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" features the whole gang back together. It was shared by Marvel last month.
Enthusiasts of the first installment of the movie were left wanting more, thus Sean Gunn (being the brother of director James Gunn), who plays Yondu's first mate Kraglin (and Rocket Raccoon) revealed the first scene of the highly anticipated sequel.
In an interview with ComicBook, at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest, Gunn shared about the early moments of 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'.
"When the movie starts, it's only a couple of months after the first movie. The Ravagers have not gone hard after Peter Quill after he double-crossed them with the Infinity Stone."
When the clip shown at San Diego Comic-Con was revealed to the public, viewers speculates Yondu to be showing a little favoritism to the good side, which doesn't sit well with his Ravagers.
"There's a little rumbling amongst the Ravagers, like, 'Where does Yondu's allegiance lay here? Is he going soft on Quill?'" Gunn added. "So, the Ravagers have to make a decision of what they're gonna do about Yondu and I think Kraglin is a key part of that."
'Guardians of the Galaxy', released on the big screen last August 2014, earned a whopping $773 million worldwide gross sales with the movie's $232.3 million budget. It also earned two Academy Awards Nominations.
According to Gunn, the second volume will use some of what worked in the first movie but also set itself apart with new original themes.
"I do think that it tries to touch some of the same notes that worked in the first movie. It's a tent pole movie, meaning it's literally for everyone. It's not just a kids' movie disguised as an adult movie or vice versa. I really think it's for all ages. I really do think it has a heart but it's a comedy, as well."
With regards to what his brother (director James Gunn) has to say, "I've heard my brother say that the first movie was about creating a family the second movie is more about being a family and the struggle of maintaining that. I think that's spot on and I hope that's what resonates with people."
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits cinemas on April 28, 2017.
