Bandai Namco just unveiled the latest SoulCalibur game. Many fans are crossing their fingers that it is "SoulCalibur 6," the installment that is subject to many rumors but has not received a green light from Namco. To many fans' dismay, the game publishing behemoth released a Pachinko game that is only available in Japan.

Pachinko machines are pretty much like slot machines in Western gaming. The "SoulCalibur" Pachinko was created in line with the 20th anniversary of the Soulcalibur franchise. It was a collaboration between Bandai Namco and Yamasa Amusement Factory.

While many fans were quite disheartened that it was not "SoulCalibur 6," some were optimistic that it could be a sign that the much-awaited follow-up to "SoulCalibur 5" is already on its way.

Like any other games that are stuck in development hell, "SoulCalibur 6" has its fair share of "accidental leaks" and assumed release date. Earlier, a concept art from Passion Republic surfaced online. It was believed that it was legit, given that the Malaysian production company worked on notable titles like "Mortal Kombat X," "Dark Souls 3" and "Batman: Arkham Knight."

Then just last August, a mysterious "guess who" tweet from the game's official Twitter account served as a cryptic clue that "SoulCalibur 6" might be on its way. Katsuhiro Harada, creator of the Tekken series and member of the team behind SC franchise, teased "SoulCalibur 6" last February. He wrote on Twitter,"The SoulCalibur Fans are still anxiously waiting on #SoulCalibur6 !!! Please don't forget that! #SoulCalibur"

Gamers over Steam Community speculated that Namco will not reveal anything about "SoulCalibur 6" until the PC version for "Tekken 7" is out. The theory makes sense since no publisher would create a rival to their own game. Besides, the devs would not create a Facebook character popularity poll asking people what to include in the next game for nothing.

For now, everything should be taken with a grain of salt until Bandai Namco finally announced the SC6. In other news, the gaming community is asking if Namco will also release "Tekken 7" in the upcoming Nintendo Switch. Namco claimed that they were surprised with Switch and did not confirm anything.
