HP’s Rumored Consumer-Grade Windows 10 Phone: Lower Priced Elite X3 Version is expected for Release Soon!
Acquiring the latest HP Elite X3 today may not be for everybody due to its whopping price tag, $699 or AU$1,100. Elite X3 is undoubtedly the most interesting Windows 10 Mobile smartphone of the year, not only for its specs but taking the entire package HP has to offer.
HP furnished the smartphone from high-end specifications to accessories and applications. As the device, includes "Lapdock" and powerful HP Workspace, a remote desktop application that allows the user to use regular Windows desktop virtually.
Besides the price tag, owning an Elite X3 may not be as easy due to the availability of HP Workspace only for enterprise customers.
Good news for users, though. According to Slashgear, HP is planning to release another consumer-level smartphone with a mid-range device powered by Qualcomm chipset that supported the Continuum for phones.
There is no concrete evidence and details on the rumored smartphone of HP and Windows. Definitely, it would be a successor of Elite X3. Others suggested that it will base on the platform of Elite X3 which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM and with 64GB of storage capacity.
Since it would be a mid-range Windows 10 smartphone, the smartphone may be running on a Snapdragon 600 series, probably the 627, that can cover 3 GB of RAM. There will also be another chipset contender for the next smartphone; a Snapdragon 617, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage which also supports Microsoft's requirements for continuum phones.
The upcoming HP smartphone is said to be so interesting on how they incorporate the still experimental feature to run "legacy" win32 apps on ARM (Advance RISC Machine) devices such as mobile phones.
Nothing is certain yet as of the moment, so might as well take this report with a grain of salt, as updates for the company's future definite plans will be revealed in the upcoming months.
