NBA Trade Rumors: Greg Monroe To Trail Blazers; Evan Turner Or Allen Crabbe To Bucks?
Big man Greg Monroe was unhappy on his minutes on Milwaukee Bucks which resulted into trade rumors that he might leave the team to play for Portland Trail Blazers via trade.
Monroe averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds in 31 minutes per contest during his last season in Detroit. He raised his prize stocks in the 2015 free agency which landed him to a $51.4 million 3-year contract with the Bucks.
Monroe's numbers dropped this season in Milwaukee as he only averaged 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game. According to Marc Stein's report, Monroe played seven, zero, two and eight minutes each from his previous games and the team might explore again for the possibility of trading Monroe since last season's deadline in February.
According to ESPN, Portland is looking for a trade as GM Neil Olshey was in pursuit of big men who can provide inside presence and the low-post threat that Trail Blazers is currently lacking. There were reports last July that Trail Blazers' executives met Greg Monroe to talk about transactions which will make Monroe play in Portland.
The Trail Blazers have a 9-10 win-loss record this season and rank ninth place in the West behind Los Angeles Lakers. The team always depended on their reliable guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum that are playing great this season.
Damian Lillard is rank 6th in scoring and averaging 28.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists on 46.3 percent shooting from the field and 36.6 percent from the three-point line. C.J. McCollum also has an outstanding season as he averages 22.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.6 minutes.
Despite the scoring firepower of the duo, the Blazers are still struggling and have lost three of their last four games. Based on HNGN, the Trail Blazers could pursue Milwaukee Bucks' Greg Monroe in exchange for Trail Blazers' Evan Turner. There's also a report that Greg Monroe could be traded for Allen Crabbe.
If Monroe will play for the Blazers, his minutes will eventually go up because the team needs an inside scoring. The Blazers are good in the guard position so what they need is a low post guy in Greg Monroe that could dominate the paint, control the rebounds and protect the rim.
Monroe was a good rebounder and defender who could intimidate opposing players in the paint and he can be a scorer again during his time in Detroit. The possibility of Monroe playing with Lillard and McCollum can give the Trail Blazers an inside and outside offense.
