Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’ Update: A Dark Teaser Trailer, Lightning McQueen’s Close Encounter With The Dark Side!
Disney/Pixar's first trailer for "Cars 3" shifted gear as the teaser gets too dark and disturbing for children, somehow gaining negative reactions from young audiences, parents and fans.
Best known for its light-hearted and kid-friendly storyline, Pixar Animation Studios' "Cars" depicts the story and adventure (or misadventures) of a rookie racecar, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his friends. The animated movie proved to be a hit, catering to kids, and also played well for those who are kids at heart.
The currently released "Cars 3" first official teaser, however, suggests a serious tonal shift for the franchise. The trailer was posted on YouTube and was added to the batch of previews and teasers that played before Disney's Moana.
The 50-second clip shows the main character of the series, racecar Lightning McQueen, spinning out of control in the middle of a race, followed by McQueen flipping through the air in slow motion on his way to what will no doubt be thunderous wreckage.
Just before the car makes an impact with the ground, the "Cars 3" ominous new tagline appears: "From this moment, everything will change."
The plot summary goes: Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn't through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage!
The eerie and unusually horrifying trailer seemed to suggest a dark sequel to the movie and garnered negative responses from kids and parents as well. Moviegoers posted their thoughts on their Twitter accounts:
The kids in my theater for Moana were absolutely traumatized by the Cars 3 teaser trailer.

A toddler started crying during the Cars 3 teaser before Moana last week and another kid covered their eyes so i guess it was successful — emi
