NBA Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin To Trail Blazers; Maurice Harkless/Ed Davis Or Miles Plumlee/Allen Crabbe To Clippers?
Due to the serious need of a legit big man, the Portland Trail Blazers are once again in the latest NBA trade rumors as they target to get Blake Griffin in a 5-player trade.
The Los Angeles Clippers rank 3rd in the Western conference this season wherein they registered a 14-5 win-loss record.
The team is having a great start this season led by the high-flying Blake Griffin and their court general Chris Paul. Those two players are playing remarkable this season as Griffin averages 21.1 points (48.7% field-goal shooting), 8.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals while Paul posting 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 2.8 steals.
Griffin and Paul are supported by their co-starters J.J. Reddick, Jamal Crawford and DeAndre Jordan. Although the team had a great start, they are now experiencing a three-game losing streak which slips them to 3rd place from 1st place.
This season will be Paul and Griffin's last year in their contract so if Clippers will be successful this season, Paul and Griffin might re-sign and play again in the Lob City. But if their campaign this season will be unsuccessful, the Lob City tandem of Griffin, Paul and DeAndre Jordan might be seen for the last time in L.A.
Headlines and Global News reported that the Portland Trail Blazers are interested and looking to acquire Blake Griffin as the team is currently looking for a big man that can fill their weakness from the paint. In return for Griffin, The Trail Blazers would likely exchange Maurice Harkless and Ed Davis or Allen Crabbe and Mason Plumlee.
If ever Griffin plays in Portland, he could be combined with Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum and build a new tandem. The Trail Blazers are in the eighth spot in the West due to a lack of a quality big man and with Blake Griffin playing for them, their inside weakness will now be their strength as Griffin is a monster in the paint.
Griffin is a proven scorer inside the paint and he could also pass, rebound, play defense and even handle the ball. His talent and athleticism will provide many options to the Trail Blazers offense which helps Lillard and McCollum in their scoring production.
