UFC News: Demetrius Johnson Defends Flyweight Title Against Tom Elliot in TUF 24 Finale Main Event
The main event for Saturday's fight card, "The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale" is finally official. UFC Flyweight Demetrious Johnson will defend his belt against another veteran Tim Elliot on Saturday night.
Based on the report from Fox Sports,"The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale" will be at The Pearl at Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Johnson, well-known as the Mighty Mouse, is currently the longest reigning current UFC champ at four years and two months. Since he acquires the belt from defeating Joseph Benavidez, Johnson successfully defended the Flyweight belt eight times consecutively.
The 'Mighty Mouse' record in UFC History has the most successful defenses which put him in the third spot tie with Jon Jones. Johnson's record in MMA details 24 wins, two losses, one draw while in UFC 12 wins, 1 loss, and a draw.
Meanwhile, Elliot has six fights of UFC experience with two wins record from 2012 to 2015 before he was cut by the organization last year of February. Elliot, however, ventures on Titan FC, wherein he wins three consecutive fights and taking the Titan FC Flyweight belt. He defeated the Japanese fighter Hiromasa Ogikubo in the finals of the TUF 24 flyweight tournament
The win of Elliot over Ogikubo is his ticket in securing the reported main fight; he will have a chance in grabbing another title. Elliot's record in MMA entails 13 wins, six losses, one draw while in UFC he had two wins and four losses.
In the upcoming fight, fans are going to witness another history in fighting sport as Demetrious Johnson is trying to extend his title defense winning streak to nine, to tie with Georges St-Pierre in second place at UFC History.
On the other side, Tim Elliot is trying to leave a mark in the UFC History by defeating the reigning Flyweight champ which eventually become the biggest upset in UFC, if that happens, and hopefully becoming the sixth fighter to win a UFC belt after coming from Titan FC.
