‘Power Rangers’ Movie Teaser Trailer, Release Date, Updates: A Closer Guise to Alpha 5’s Bizarre New, More Alien Look!
Lionsgate's reboot of "Power Rangers" movie is months away, but little by little, information is made available for potential moviegoers' learning about this new world.
In the advent of the first official trailer for the movie last October, and while the new Angel Grove and how the rangers fit this world was explained, a lot of details were still kept in the dark. A recent report from IGN, however, revealed an exclusive first look at Alpha 5, the robotic assistant and acted as a secondary mentor to the rangers.

Alpha 5 now has a modern and organic look that uses darker hues of the familiar red and blue of the original design. Emmy-nominated actor Bill Hader (The Angry Birds Movie, Inside Out) will be providing the voice for the alien robot.
The robot's more extraterrestrial look, with long limbs and insect-like eyes on its saucer head, is a pretty jarring shift from the original character's look but matches with how the new Power Rangers armor looks, so consistency is seen.
The Lionsgate reboot will pretty much stick close to the original source material, with a bigger budget and more sophisticated effects, which is heartening to the film's enthusiasts. Check out the synopsis below:
"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town, Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it's too late."
The "Power Rangers" movie stars Becky G, RJ Cyler (Second Chances, Vice Principals), Naomi Scott The Martian, Lemonade Mouth), Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) and Dacre Montgomery (Safe Neighborhood) are set to play Trini, Billy, Kimberly, Zack and Jason, respectively. Bryan Cranston (The Infiltrator, Godzilla) will play Zordon while Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, Walk of Shame) will play the villainous Rita Repulsa.
Director Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) called the script a "mature but still playful" take on the source material. Gods of Egypt Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless took on the first draft, while X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz whipped it into shape.
"Power Rangers" movie will release March 24, 2017. Here is a closer look at the first trailer of the film.
