The San Antonio Spurs are seeking for more wins as they take on the bottom-seeded Washington Wizards next. The game will be played at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
While they have not been considered as top contenders yet, the Wizards have so far won three of their last five games. Coming into the current contest, however, they are fresh off a loss against the the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, with a final score of 126-115 after one overtime period.
Star guard Russell Westbrook was just too much to handle for the Wizards, who had no answer to his scoring barrages. But shooting guard Bradley Beal was able to pile in 31 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Power forward Markieff Morris meanwhile, added in 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
The Spurs, meanwhile, were able to bounce back from a loss that broke their nine-game winning streak by defeating the Dallas Mavericks during their game on Wednesday. Second stringer Patty Mills came off the bench and piled in the most contributions for the team, as he finished with 23 points, three rebounds and four assists. Small forward Kawhi Leonard also finished big with 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The Spurs did not exactly play a stellar game against the Mavericks, as they were held scoreless the entire third period. But head coach Gregg Popovich continued to believe in his men, until victory was finally secured.
"We dug down deep, didn't moan or groan or whine, stuck with it and kept pounding away and found a way to win," Popovich said of his team (via ESPN.com).
The Spurs have always been a well-coached team playing with fluidity, so it can be expected for them to come out with the win again. But at the same time, the Wizards are looking to bounce back as well, making team a dangerous team to deal with, not to be taken lightly.
