2016 NBA Trade Latest News & Updates: Nerlens Noel Tantrums Account For Plunge In Stock Value
Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers is expected to be traded soon though his recent comments and tantrums could hurt his chances of hooking up with a contender. After playing just eight minutes and scoring only two points, the 22-year-old is pretty unhappy.
Noel’s limited minutes were expected. He is coming off knee surgery and getting into the groove of the Sixers machine needed some time to cure.
Then again, everyone knows the fantastic showing that Joel Embiid has been showing. Jahlil Okafor has also been performing well, factors that have pushed Noel and the rest of the forwards a step back.
It would be best to note that rookie Ben Simmons has yet to play for the Sixers. Assuming the frosh is ready to go, that could push Noel further down the line – possibly at the end of the rotation, Philly.com reported.
That said, Noel is more than likely to get his wish before the NBA trade deadline happening in February 2017. However, the teams interested in the former Kentucky standout could dwindle following his tantrums.
“I need to be on the court playing basketball. I think I’m too good to be playing eight minutes. Like, no, that’s crazy. That’s crazy. That’s crazy. They need to figure this s— out,” Noel said after the game via CSN Philly.
Noel is more likely speaking out of frustration. Though understandable, there are precedents he needs to consider.
That includes the fact that he missed most of the preseason and as well as the early part of the current NBA season. Those two factors alone require him to get with the program and work his way back to the rotation.
An NBA trade may be forthcoming but the fact remains he is still a Sixer. Bickering won’t help his chances – for the Sixers and prospective teams that are considering adding the 6-foot-11 rim protector.
