Manny Pacquiao vs Terence Crawford: Bob Sheridan Predicts ‘Bud’ Will Win, Here’s Why
Manny Pacquiao and Terence Crawford could collide in a light middleweight bout this year if negotiations come to fruition. While Pacquiao will be the favorite to win in the proposed bout, one boxing expert believes that Crawford could shock the world if he gets the biggest fight of his career.
Legendary boxing commentator Bob Sheridan believes that the Pacquiao-Crawford fight will happen this year. He then added that if he will be asked to make a bet, he will go for Crawford simply because he is the younger fighter.
Crawford is just 29 years old, while Pacquiao is already 38. The younger star has also been more active, fighting three times last year compared to two for Pacquiao.
However, Sheridan added that he might be proven wrong again. The Hall of Famer said that Pacquiao has shocked him numerous time before when he thought that he has seen it all from the Filipino boxing icon.
"Any time I lean the other way away from Pacquiao, he surprises me because he's a phenomenal athlete," Sheridan told On The Ropes Boxing Radio. "And when you talk about the best of the best, sometimes they come up with the shocking performances that you just wouldn't otherwise believe. Pacquiao ranks as one of the best of the best."
Crawford, who owns a perfect 30-0 record with 21 knockouts, is coming off an eighth-round knockout win over John Molina in December. On the other hand, Pacquiao ran away with a unanimous decision victory against Jessie Vargas during their WBO welterweight title fight in November.
Pacquiao and Crawford were also linked to each other before the former pound-for-pound eventually picked the fight against Vargas. Aside from Crawford, Pacquiao is also reportedly considering a showdown with Jeff Horn.
Horn, who has a 16-0-1 record with 11 knockout victories, is virtually an unknown to casual boxing fans. However, Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum is high on the 28-year-old Australian.
Horn is also in the running for the Pacquiao fight in April. In fact, Duco Events director and promoter Dean Lonergan is set to sit down with Arum to discuss the possible showdown, World Boxing News reported.
"I will be pushing hard for, firstly to get Jeff Horn the Pacquiao fight, and secondly to try and get the fight in Australia," Horn said. "If we can take it down under, the fight would then take place in a venue that makes the most financial sense."
