This is bad news for NBA fans that were hoping that their favorite team might acquire Cousins services. The Kings were reportedly more interested in making for the playoffs this season, than rebooting by trading their franchise player. At 15-21, they are ninth in the Western Conference, but only percentage points separate them from the 16-22 Portland Trail Blazers, who are in eighth.
According to RealGM, the Sacramento Kings will offer DeMarcus Cousins a contract extension this offseason that will be around $200M. The NBA's new collective bargaining agreement made trade rumors around Cousins die down, as is the Kings' ability to pay Cousins significantly more money than any other NBA team.
DeMarcus Cousins Is Having His Best Season In Sacramento
DeMarcus Cousins is in his seventh season with the Sacramento Kings and he has yet to take them to the NBA Playoffs. Though the playoffs seem to still elude him, he's played the best basketball of his career, this seaon.
Cousins has averaged 28.5 points, 10 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. And those stats have powered the Kings to compete in the Western Conference.

DeMarcus Cousins said at an NBA TV appearance that trade rumors never bothered him and he wants to stay in Sacramento as long as he possibly can. Cousins says that "If you would ask me, I think my jersey will be hanging in the rafters when I retire in Sacramento. So the rumors are not really a concern for mine. My only concern is winning games every night and pushing this team to the next level."
