Manny Pacquiao Oblivious About Jeff Horn, Says Fight Not Final Despite Reports

Manny Pacquiao has denied the finalization of his fight against Jeff Horn, a fighter whom he's never heard of.

Last week, reports surfaced about "Pacman" being scheduled to face the 28-year-old Australian fighter some time in April. Should the fight push through, it would be his second fight since announcing his retirement in April 2016, in preparation for his Senate obligations in the Philippines.

Pacquiao did come out of retirement after just seven months to face then WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas. The eight-division world champion did win via unanimous decision, along with the title he previously held before retiring.

According to Top Rank Promotions head honcho Bob Arum, Horn will likely be Pacquiao's next opponent. He added that it was all a matter of determining where the fight will be held, but he did affirm that it would be outside the United States, and will not be broadcast on pay-per-view, unlike all of Pacquiao's fights over the last 16 years.

"We have an agreement with (Jeff) Horn but it's all subject to Manny's approval. And it's all subject to getting a site. So it's still up in the air but it looks like it's headed (with a bout with Horn)," Arum told Ring TV (via

But as far as Pacquiao is concerned, nothing has been set in stone yet, and no conversations have transpired between him and Arum. In fact, he is questioning the full identity of Horn, whom he claims he has no knowledge about.

"I don't know him. But that's what I heard from the news. But we're not finalising yet about that fight or any future fights, I didn't talk to Bob Arum yet about that," Pacquiao told Fox Sports News (via

Pacquiao, however, says he is open to the idea of fighting Horn. He is even willing to have it held in Australia, in Horn's backyard.

Horn currently holds an unblemished record of 16-0-1, with 11 wins by knockout. He is currently ranked number two, behind Jessie Vargas.
