Is UCLA Freshman Better Than Stephen Curry?

LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball, has never been shy about sharing his confidence in his son's talents. But his newest proclamation can only be classified as ridiculous.

Ball Said That His Son Is Better Than Stephen Curry

In an interview with TMZ Sports, LaVar Ball claimed that his son, Lonzo Ball, would be better than Stephen Curry and Jason Kidd once he got to the NBA. Ball said: "You gotta compare somebody to someone. But you can't compare my boy to anybody. You think he can be as good as Stephen Curry in the NBA? Heck no! He is going be better than Stephen Curry in the NBA."

"Stephen Curry's pretty good. But my son is young, he's got time to grow. And you only consider him good because he's won a couple championships. He makes some shots at the right time. But he's not as young as my boy. You not gonna be able to say this until my boy finishes playing his career; then they going to look back and say, 'Man, how did LaVar know all this?'" Ball added.

According to Yahoo Sports News, JaVar Ball even claimed that his son is better than Jason Kidd, he said: "I'm gonna tell you this. They say he's like Jason Kidd. But he's taller than Jason Kidd. Okay, he jumps better than Jason Kidd. He's longer than Jason Kidd. He's got a better shot than Jason Kidd. How can you comparing him to Kidd?"

According to Sports Reference, Lonzo Ball is averaging 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists for UCLA. At least in one regard, Lonzo compared favorably to the two-time reigning MVP. Lonzo is also shooting 43.2 percent from beyond the arc, he is sixth in effective field goal percentage 67.1 percent and 17th in true shooting percentage 67.6 percent.

TMZ completely disagreed with JaVar Ball, but he's got one son who's scored 72 points in a high school game, another who's scored 92, and one who just might be the best player in college basketball. Clearly, Ball knows something people don't.
