Soccer Rumors: Zlatan Ibrahimovic Will Only Stay at Man United If He Becomes Highest-Paid Player Along With Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba

Football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic will only stay with Manchester United if he becomes a joint-highest-paid player with Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba at Old Trafford next season. Right now, Rooney and Pogba earns around $372,000 per week, while Ibrahimovic nets about $322,000 weekly.

Rooney, 31, is United's captain and main attraction even though he has not been used by Jose Mourinho as one of the usual starters this season. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Pogba is the Red Devils' world-record signing last summer, spending a whopping $110 million to acquire him from the Italian champions Juventus.

Ibrahimovic, who will turn 36 in October, is also a new signee by United last summer on a free transfer after his contract with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain expired. His United deal came with an option to be extended for another season depending on his performance, and it certainly looks like the Red Devils would want to keep him for another year.

The former Sweden national team captain has met expectations in his first year with the club, becoming the top goalscorer of Mourinho's side. He has brought his offensive prowess to England from France, as he has scored 26 goals in a total of 41 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

In four years with PSG, Ibrahimovic netted 156 goals in 180 games, winning the French top-flight title for four straight seasons. However, The Sun reported that Ibrahimovic would only accept an extension if United will pay him as much as they pay Rooney and Pogba.

The report also noted that Ibrahimovic's agent, Mino Raiola, who also manages Pogba's career, has "received mega bucks offers from the MLS and Chinese Super League for his client." This means that United will have to give in to the player's demands or else the Swede striker could move next term.

Caught Offside indicated, though, that Ibrahimovic will surely remain at the Old Trafford next season. Raiola is said to be in Manchester right now to "finalize the details of the agreement."
