AMD Ryzen 5 CPU Specifications and Price: What We Know So Far

By Jeff Harris, Posted: 03/20/17 06:37PM EDT

Setbacks and delays are kind of like a norm today in the technology world, apparently because the manufacturers want the best experience for customers. But while some releases are getting push back, AMD is seemed determined to put the complete Ryzen 5 lineup this coming April 11th.

As posted by, "AMD has confirmed the launch date and specifications of their new Ryzen 5 series processors. Aiming at the mainstream market, these processors will be available on 11th April and will be available in various SKUs."

The Ryzen 5 processors are actually subdivided into two groups based on the number of cores and thread. The first upper half is comprised of four powerful processors which run on 6-cores/12-threads which include Ryzen 5 1600X, the most powerful among Ryzen 5 processors. Meanwhile, the other four processors on the lower bracket run on 4-core/8-threads including the cheapest, the Ryzen 5 Pro 1300 which is reportedly going to available for only US$165.

The Power of Ryzen 5 Processors

Proving the power of these Ryzen 5 processors, Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks stated as posted on AMD, "We are impressed by the technological evolution enabled by the Zen architecture, which was designed to keep pace now and well into the future as gaming, eSports and virtual reality experiences continually push the limits of devices."

Andonov added, "Working with an all-new microarchitecture, like that in the Ryzen family of processors, means that everyone has the opportunity to raise their game and bring the very best interactive experiences to players. All of us at Bethesda are excited about working with AMD to keep evolving the premium performance that Ryzen offers."
