Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Will the Seahawks Trade Richard Sherman?
The Seattle Seahawks are being mentioned in NFL trade rumors again after ex-NFL executive Michael Lombardi talked about a possible deal involving Richard Sherman. It remains unconfirmed if the Seahawks really want to deal away one of their best players, but it could happen.
Sherman was instrumental in the Seahawks' success in the last five seasons. He is part of Seattle's Legion of Boom and perhaps the group's most famous member. Because of his contributions to the team and his ability on the field, many see him as an untouchable player when it comes to trades. However, that idea changed when Lombardi shared on The Ringer NFL Show that for the "right deal," he might be dealt.
An NFL trade sending Sherman elsewhere is unlikely as of this moment. The Seahawks still value him, especially after having another great year for the Seattle last season. For teams eyeing the 28-year-old, it may look difficult trying to complete a deal for him, but FanRag Sports suggested possible offers that could get the Seahawks' attention and interest.
The first one is a package involving a first-round pick and a player who could address one of the needs of the Seahawks. If the Seahawks aim to save money and not absorb a contract to protect their salary cap, a team targeting Sherman may offer two future picks -- a first and a third-rounder.
These are great offers and something the Seahawks might consider in the future. However, it was emphasized that a trade for Sherman is still unlikely at this point, especially since the team is loaded on both offense and defense.
Sure the Seahawks can use him to improve their roster, but it seems like they are leaning towards keeping him. He already proved his value to the franchise and is familiar with the system.
