Soccer Transfer Rumors: Barca Superstar Neymar 'Opens Door' to Premier League Switch
Barcelona superstar Neymar has recently hinted that he could one day play in the English Premier League. The Brazil national team captain specifically named five teams that he would be interested in joining in the future, namely Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
In a recent interview, the 25-year-old winger admitted that he would like to play in the English top-flight one day as he is "amazed" by the "playing style" of the teams. He also mentioned managers Jose Mourinho (Manchester United) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) as head coaches that "would excite him" to work with, as per The Sun.
"The Premier League is a championship that amazes me," said Neymar, who is a part of Luis Enrique's three-headed attacking force at the Camp Nou alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. "I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows, someday, I would like to play at it, yes."
"I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool - these are the teams that are always there fighting. And then you have high-level coaches like Mourinho and Guardiola. These are coaches with whom any player would like to work," he added.
Neymar also said that he is fond of the competitiveness of the league as it is always difficult to predict who will win the title in any given season. He even cited Leicester City's fairy tale finish last season as a testament to the Premier League's strength and balance. He also said that the Foxes will have their respect should Barcelona draws them in the quarterfinals of the ongoing UEFA Champions League tournament.
Barcelona recently made history as the only team to get back and win from a 0-4 deficit in the knockout stage of the Champions League. The team dropped a 0-4 game at the Parc des Princes last month during the first leg of their Round-of-6 series with Paris Saint-Germain. Barca came from behind and pulled off a 6-1 victory at the Nou Camp in the second leg to advance to the quarterfinals with Neymar emerging as the game's hero.
