Google seems to have a problem with keeping testers and customers apart as the company pushed an unfinished Google Drive for Windows update, causing Drive to break for thousands of users. Recently, Google accidentally releases a "confidential internal only" update to Pixel Xl.

Google Accidentally Pushed A Dogfood Test Build Security Update

Android manufacturers often run employee-only test builds of their software updates before they are released to the public to ensure they are stable and fit for general rollout. However, one such internal update from Google has recently made its way onto some Pixel XL devices belonging to non-employees/testers.

WCCF Tech reported that Google has inadvertently released a May 2017 security update titled "Confidential Googlers-Only OTA" to normal Google Pixel XL owners. The update carried the build number N2G470, which the update doesn't bring any visible changes in the Google Pixel XL.

Meanwhile, AndroidPolice reported that one tipster said he received the new Play Store UI after the new update. "You may use your device normally but do not discuss or comment on this update externally," the update warns Googlers making reference to an internal "Dogfood-discuss" feedback system.

Google Pixel 2 Latest Update Details Revealed

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL were both launched in October 2016, according to Tech Radar fans can expect to see the Pixel 2 roughly a year later, in or around October 2017. Although the Pixel line is new, it's building on the now defunct Nexus range, which also tended to have a new handset in around September or October of each year.

The Google Pixel 2 will apparently carry a loftier price tag than its predecessors as the old one started at $649 (£599, AU$1,079), or $769 (£719, AU$1,269) for the XL version. So, expect it to be higher.

Google Pixel 2 will come with a waterproof design, a Senior Editor at 9to5Google reported a source has said the phone will be "dunkable" when it's released. Pixel 2 will also feature an improved chipset and camera.
