‘Death Stranding’ Updates: Fan Theory Teases ‘Strands’ Usage, Hints Controllability Link Between Characters
Details about Hideo Kojima's upcoming game "Death Stranding" have been sparse with the iconic video game creator keeping silent about the said gaming title's features and storyline. However, a few fans came up with speculations on how the "strands" or cable-like ropes might work in the game.
The "Death Stranding" teaser clips that game developer Kojima Productions previously unveiled contained intriguing images that featured the Hollywood stars Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo del Toro and "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus. Despite having released two short videos, the said clips only served to raise the expectations of avid gaming fans given its various elements that hinted of a war, connections formed from cable-like "strands" and more.
Recently, an eagle-eyed fan claimed to have spotted something interesting in the "Death Stranding" teaser where Mikkelsen's character appeared with several soldiers. Redditor glasese posted on the game's Reddit forum to highlight how the said character's eyes seemed to have a green twinge but later changed to brown.
In the said "Death Stranding" scene, Mikkelsen's character sported black streaks on his face and his eyes looked slightly green. After deploying his soldier team, followed by a shot of a disfigured baby doll floating near his legs, the said character's eyes turned brown and his face became streak-free.
Redditor glasese speculated that the black stain may be connected to how the "strands" might work in "Death Stranding" and its potential game character controllability feature. The presence of a blue-eyed doll bumping Mikkelson's character also hinted of a potential link between Reedus' blue-eyed character and his speculated ability to control the former character.
Moreover, the same Redditor recounted how Kojima also used different eye colors in "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" to distinguish the character Venom Snake from the Big Boss. Despite critics who might claim that the change in eye colors may be attributed to the lighting effects showcased in the said "Death Stranding" scene, the iconic game creator might also use the same "Metal Gear Solid 5" character design strategy, according to glasese.
At this time, it is still unclear if the said gaming speculations are correct. However, Kojima shared in an earlier interview with IGN that he wanted to use ropes or cables in "Death Stranding" to represent the connection between people.
"Death Stranding" is under development for PlayStation 4.
