NFL Draft Rumors: Cleveland Browns Could Get Myles Garrett, Mitch Trubisky If 49ers Agree on Possible Trade
The 2017 NFL Draft is just a week away and the Cleveland Browns will have the first overall pick. The Browns are still undecided between Myles Garrett and Mitch Trubisky, but they could end up with both players if they can pull off a big trade.
According to Will Brinson of CBS Sports, the Browns can get Garret and Trubisky in the 2017 NFL Draft if they can convince the San Francisco 49ers to trade the second overall pick. Brinson suggested that the Browns should trade up in order to get the quarterback from North Carolina.
The suggested deal has Cleveland sending the 12th, 33rd and 108th overall pick in this year's draft along with a 2018 second round pick to San Francisco in exchange for the second overall. Some people might look at the deal and feel that it might be unfair.
However, the 49ers need a lot of players and they can only get it if they can trade their best asset. They can get a top quality player even with the 12th overall pick because of the talent in this year's class. Even the 33rd overall has a first-round value because of how deep this year's class is.
Of course, it should be noted that it was just a suggestion, but the 49ers are open to trading the second overall pick. The Browns already made a great trade this offseason, making use of their salary cap that might change the market. Now, they can use their glut of draft picks to come up with two of the best players in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Draft analyst Mel Kiper believes the Browns' toughest competition for Trubisky is the New York Jets that owns the sixth overall selection, per ESPN. He suggested trading up to the third overall spot and make a deal with the Bears.
"If the Bears want to move out of three, I think that could be a spot for Cleveland to jump up and take Trubisky," Kiper said.
