NVIDIA GeForce GTX 20 GPU Series Based on Volta Architecture Scheduled by Q3 2017
After the successive releases of GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and Titan Xp, preparations are now fully underway for the last GPU under Pascal architecture, GeForce GTX 1030. Once released, NVIDIA will prepare for the next generation architecture of graphic cards, the GeForce 20 Series based on Volta architecture. Early reports point to target release / unveil date is Q3 of 2017.
As reported by Chinese publication My Drivers, NVIDIA is pushing forward the schedule of release of GeForce 20 series graphic cards. This is due to reportedly bad first quarter sales for this year along with other hardware sales decline. With the tightening battle for supremacy on who will be crowned the King of Graphics Card by year end, NVIDIA has no option but to bring all their weapons on the table.
With the completion of Pascal lineup after the launch GeForce GTX 1030, the next GPU architecture scheduled for release is Volta. Initial reports suggest that Volta is expected towards the end of the year or even early 2018. Rumors pointed out that though the release of Volta-based graphic cards will start early, the release of other graphic cards could be extended until early to mid-2018.
Based from recent information, three Volta GPUs will be released before the year ends: GTX 2070, GTX 2080 and TITAN Xv. Meanwhile, GTX 2080 Ti and GTX 2070 Ti will have to wait until early to mid-2018.
