Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones Betting Odds: Champ Still Huge Underdog Heading Into UFC 214
When the first time Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones met in the cage on Jan. 3, 2015, Bones was the overwhelming favorite. Two years later, and with the heavyweight championship belt in his arm, the former Olympic wrestler is still the underdog for their rematch at the UFC 214.
According to BetOnline, as shared by Oddshark, Cormier is still not getting the respect he deserved after beating Anthony Johnson with his wrestling skills twice. When the UFC 214 rolls along on July 29 in Las Vegas, Cormier will be at +205 while Jones hovers around -240.
During their first meeting at the UFC 182, Cormier was +170 while Jones was at -210. During the UFC 197, when Jones fought Ovince St Preux, "Bones" was at -340 favorite although he failed to impress fans and analysts alike over his performance.
MMAJunkie noted that Jones has never really lost to another fighter because he was stripped of his belt by the UFC. In four years, he made eight straight title defenses, including a unanimous decision over his former training partner, Cormier.
There's a lot of bad blood between the two fighters. Their feud even spilled over to Twitter while Jones wa
s serving his suspension, and Cormier anytime he got a chance, rubbed the fact that Bones failed a drug test.
During the announcement of their fight on UFC 214, the two scuffled once again when DC took exception when Jones mentioned his kids. Their feud later spilled over on Twitter where the former light heavyweight champ called the 38-year-old his "b---ch."
Meanwhile, in his version of events, Jones claimed that his rival hit him on the head with a water bottle, which triggered the melee. "You weren't the champion ever," he addressed Cormier. "You were a belt holder. A belt warmer. A belt sitter. But you were never the champion."
