Did Kevin Lee Just Insult Conor McGregor:UFC Fighter Says Having a Baby Will Make Irishman Soft
Conor McGregor is on a long hiatus while he enjoys fatherhood with the arrival of a baby girl in the family. However, up and coming UFC fighter Kevin Lee said that family life will soften the edges of the Irishman.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, the 24-year-old outspoken upstart first congratulated the lightweight champ for having a baby girl. However, he quickly gave an unsolicited advice to the 28-year-old Irish: don't come back.
"I ain't got no kids, I ain't got no wife, I ain't got no girl, I ain't got none of that," he said of McGregor growing his family. "Everytime he out there feeding his baby with mashed-up bananas, potatoes, changing diapers, whatever, I'm studying films, I'm on a roll, I'm running. Everytime he do that s**t, I'm pushing for his spot."
However, this could be a case of a fighter trying to make a name for himself in the UFC. At 12th place, Lee is so far down the totem pole in the lightweight division, that he needs to create a hype to fight the big names.
He will get the opportunity to boost his stock when he fights seventh ranked Michael Chiesa at the UFC Fight Night 112 on June 25 in Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Interestingly, during the press conference for the UFC Summer Kickoff last week, Lee brought up Chiesa's mother which led to the brawl.
"He's gonna headline because of me," Lee told the press. "After that, he's going back to the prelims. But I just hope he shows up, because I know his momma's got tickets." Chiesa took exception to his opponent bringing up his mother that he stood up and rushed at Lee on the other side of the stage. They were blocked by security, but not Lee still managed to land a grazing blow at Chiesa over the bodyguard's shoulder.
