‘Sonic Forces’ Updates: Latest Promo Unveils Custom Hero Mode, Special Gadgets
The upcoming platformer video game "Sonic Forces" promises to deliver a mix of classic and new gameplay elements to the latest installment of the "Sonic" franchise. Gamers can also expect to create their own playable characters and equip them with special weapons through the said gaming title's new Custom Hero option.
Avid "Sonic" fans will soon have the chance to customize playable characters in "Sonic Forces." Recently, game publisher Sega and game developer Sonic Team unveiled a new teaser clip, as obtained by Destructoid, that featured the upcoming game's Custom Hero mode.
With the said "Sonic Forces" option, gamers can create a new hero by choosing one of the pre-made animal characters and outfitting it with various body gears and weapons. Players can choose from a selection of objects such as headgear items, gloves, bodysuit, footwear and more.
The weapon arsenal of "Sonic Forces" also contains several unique gadgets such as a flamethrower, grappling hook and others. Dubbed "wispons," the said weapons are an enhanced version of the Color Powers from the gaming franchise's "Sonic Colors" installment.
Meanwhile, each of the seven customizable animal characters in "Sonic Forces" also boasts of different abilities such as the Wolf that can draw in rings when the said object is near it and the Rabbit that has longer invincibility time after receiving a hit. The Cat can retain one ring after receiving damage and the Dog can restart with five rings whenever a player's character gets killed in the game.
For the customizable Bear character in "Sonic Forces," gamers can acquire the ability to blow away an enemy given its homing move, while the Bird has a high-flying ability if coupled with a double jump move. For the classic Hedgehog, gamers can collect rings if the said character receives damage hits.
In other news, the upcoming "Sonic Forces" will contain three gameplay styles namely the Custom Hero mode, as well as the Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic styles. Sega previously unveiled the gameplay snippet for the Classic Sonic mode that showed a revamped version of the game's iconic Green Hill Zone challenge with better graphics, The Verge reported.
"Sonic Forces" is expected for release in the latter part of the year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
