‘Overwatch’ First Anniversary Celebration To Include Special Event, Loot Boxes Upgrade, Free Weekend & More
Exciting things are in store for avid "Overwatch" fans given the game's upcoming first-year anniversary. Recently, a quick glimpse at Blizzard's plans to celebrate the said milestone was unveiled.
"Overwatch" gamers can look forward to participating in another in-game event. Set to run from May 23 until June 12, the upcoming first-year anniversary event is expected to feature interesting rewards and special treats, Engadget reported.
Moreover, as part of the upcoming "Overwatch" first-year anniversary celebration, Blizzard is set to release a "Game of the Year Edition" for the said gaming title. Scheduled for launch on May 23, apart from the base game itself, the game's special edition bundle will include 10 bonus loot boxes, hero skins such as the Blackwatch Reyes, Strike-Commander Morrison, Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah and Slipstream Tracer, as well as other in-game goodies.
The upcoming "Overwatch" celebration will also provide interested players a chance to try out Blizzard's multiplayer first-person online shooting game. Given the planned Free Weekend event, gamers can download the said game, access all the heroes and explore all the maps for a limited time period.
Set to run from May 26 until May 29, players can then choose to purchase the full game after the Free Weekend period. Any game progress made during the said special weekend event will be saved and transferred to "Overwatch."
Meanwhile, Blizzard's first-year anniversary plans for "Overwatch" will also include a refresh on standard loot boxes. In an interview with Polygon, the game's director Jeff Kaplan shared that they are planning to make enhancements to the said in-game items and add in a few fan-requested emotes.
"Overwatch" gamers can look forward to seeing new emotes for the game characters Sombra and Orisa. Game developers will soon add the laughing and sitting emotes for the said heroes.
"Overwatch" was launched on May 24, 2016 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
