Floyd Mayweather Jr. Wants Conor McGregor Fight, UFC Champ Challenges Boxing Legend
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is very vocal when it comes to his desire to face UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match. Now, the mixed martial artist is firing shots towards the boxing great after he reportedly signed the contract for their fight.
In a report by The Mac Life a few days back, it was mentioned that McGregor said he already inked a deal to take on Mayweather. "The Notorious" is just waiting for the retired slugger to do the same and make it official.
McGregor, who perhaps is running out of patience, recently called out Mayweather via social media. He posted two photos on Instagram which showed that he is working on his boxing and is ready.
It is uncertain as of this moment when Mayweather will accomplish the paperwork. One thing is sure though, he is also looking forward to the potential clash. In a report by ESPN, the 39-year-old stated that McGregor is likely the man he will face if he returns to the ring. He is concerned with pay-per-view numbers, but the matchup with the pride of Ireland is the "only fight that makes sense" for him.
"I've accomplished everything I want to accomplish [against other boxers]. Conor McGregor is professional and so am I. He's a stand-up fighter, and I'm a stand-up fighter. He kicks ass in the Octagon, and I kick ass in the boxing ring. The fans demand that fight and you have to give the fans what they want to see," Mayweather added.
The possible contest continues to divide the sports world, especially boxers and MMA fighters. Some believe that Mayweather would easily dominate since boxing is his world and he was unstoppable in his entire career. Others think McGregor can score an upset because of the power and accuracy he has.
