New York Knicks Trade: Carmelo Anthony Disrespected; Cheapest Superstar Available?
The New York Knicks trade talks are heating up again now that the NBA Finals is over. Nothing changed since the name still being thrown around belongs to All-Star Carmelo Anthony. It is starting to be disrespectful to the forward because many see him as a cheap superstar.
Anthony leaving New York and getting traded this offseason is almost a sure thing. Unfortunately for him, a lot of people make it seem like his value diminished.
In the past, when Anthony was a topic of NBA trade rumors and discussions, it was believed that the Knicks would get valuable assets in exchange for him. Now, there are trade suggestions that belittle his potential price on the trade block. One of these came from Metro US.
In its report, it was mentioned that one way for the Los Angeles Lakers to increase their chances of signing LeBron James is trading for Anthony. The two are close friends and may thrive playing together in one team. An idea was to just ship D'Angelo Russell to New York for the 33-year-old veteran.
The trade scenario could be an example of disrespect towards Anthony. Indeed, the Knicks need a point guard but is that only what it takes for them to part ways with a bonafide star? A young talent that has holes in his game and is yet to prove himself in the NBA.
A Knicks trade involving Anthony will likely materialize soon. Until that happens, the rumors and suggestions are going to continue.
Aside from the Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also connected to the former Syracuse standout. There are reports circulating which state that he can help Cleveland match the reigning NBA champions, Golden State Warriors. The Cavs were overpowered by the Dubs in this year's NBA Finals.
