NBA Draft: Top Prospect Markelle Fultz Just Using Los Angeles Lakers
The 2017 NBA Draft is nearing and it seems like there are two teams that have a chance in selecting top prospect Markelle Fultz. These are the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Fultz may just be using Los Angeles as an assurance at this point.
Fultz is expected by many to be selected by Boston which owns the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. He was recently hosted by the Celtics and reportedly had a great time, even if he shot poorly during the workout.
Before heading to Boston, there were rumors saying Fultz will only be meeting the Celtics. That may no longer be the case as he is likely visiting Los Angeles this week according to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com.
Does this mean Fultz aims to be with the Lakers instead of being in Boston? Maybe not. ESPN mentioned in a report that it is possible the Celtics will pass on him or trade the No. 1 pick. These scenarios are the reasons why the 19-year-old is going to be in the City of Angels.
Perhaps Fultz wants to make sure that if he is not heading to Boston, there is a chance he would end up in Los Angeles. The Lakers may go with him since he is believed to be one of their targets together with Lonzo Ball, De'Aaron Fox, and Joshua Jackson.
As of this moment, there are no certainties when it comes to the 2017 NBA Draft. Every top prospect can be linked to a certain team that might be needing his services. Fultz is an excellent example of this. Aside from the Celtics and Lakers, the Sacramento Kings were also connected to him recently. There were talks that the Kings will be granted the opportunity to meet him ahead of the selection process.
