NBA Rumors: LeBron James Leaving Cleveland Cavaliers for Los Angeles Lakers Next Year
After their humiliating defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, there were reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers are planning to make dramatic changes for next season. But the season after that would be even more dramatic as rumors that LeBron James will be heading west is pretty loud not to notice.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, there are buzzes within the four corners of the NBA that LeBron is planning to leave Cleveland in 2018 when he has player option on his contract. But more than that, the rumors suggest that LeBron is heading somewhere in the West, in big cities.
"Cleveland's unique in that they're almost again on a one year plan because LeBron's free agency comes up again next year," Wojnarowski said as transcribed by CBS Sports. He added that sources around the league believe LeBron is "very much in play to leave again and likely head out West to one of the two L.A. teams. The Lakers could very well be a target."
There were also rumors that LeBron could be headed back in Miami though questions were raised whether Dwyane Wade will join him there. However, the bigger question depends on LeBron's business interest, his "Hollywood aspirations" among other ventures which are mostly based in the West.
Last week during an episode of First Take, Jalen Rose suggested that LeBron will not finish his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers - a take that earned him boos from the audience. According to Rose, LeBron will end up playing in one of the teams based in California, but not with the Los Angeles Clippers, not with the Sacramento Kings, and probably not with the Golden State Warriors (watch the video below).
This led to a conclusion that LeBron could be teaming up with Paul George, Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell and the entire Los Angeles Lakers roster by 2018. PG13 is reportedly locked in on signing with the Lakers in 2018 when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. With LeBron, PG13, Russell, Clarkson and possibly Lonzo Ball, the Lakers will surely make the Warriors rattle.
