Cleveland Cavaliers News: LeBron James Rumors Linking Him to Lakers, Clippers Intensify
A few days after the 2017 NBA Finals, the biggest Cleveland Cavaliers news is still centered on LeBron James. The rumors that he is joining the Los Angeles Lakers or Clippers this off-season are growing. It is expected to continue especially with the month of July approaching.
It is unknown if James truly plans to leave Cleveland this summer. In 2016, he signed a three-year deal with the Cavaliers worth $100 million. The contract has a player option for 2018.
James is yet to comment on the present issue. Despite his silence, the rumors and reports are increasing. One from Yahoo! Finance mentioned the advantages of him moving to Los Angeles.
It was written that James has a house there that is only half an hour away from the Staples Center, the home court of the Lakers and Clippers. The report added that he has "off-court interests that would benefit from being in LA."
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports reported that Adrian Wojnarowski recently discussed the reason why James can now repeat what he infamously did to Cleveland in 2010. On his podcast, the sports columnist and NBA writer expounded his thoughts.
"And I wrote this last year and said it and believed it: The minute he won that championship in Cleveland he was liberated to leave again. Now, if he had not won a title in Cleveland and then left again, I think there would be tremendous backlash again. But the fact that he came back and did what he set out to do, which was to bring a title to Cleveland," Wojnarowski explained.
As of this moment, it is likely that James wants nothing to do with all of these speculations. The Cavaliers just experienced a tough defeat in the NBA Finals and dealing with this immediately seems unnecessary.
