Intel Core i9-7900X Processor Based on Skylake Architecture Review Result
The Intel Core i9-7900X is the only Core i9 processor below the $1000 mark. In fact, Intel Core i9-7900X is the only Intel Core i9 processor set for release this June 26th. But more than just the price, what are the things that we can expect when this 10-core, 20-thread processor comes out next week?
First off, Intel Core i9-7900X will kick off the era of Intel Core i9 into the world once dominated by Core i7. But what is the difference between i9 and i7? What does having an Intel Core i9 processor really mean? What can Intel Core i9-7900X bring to the tech community?
Tech website Bit-Tech suggested that Intel Core i9-7900X will considerably post genuine challenge for the upcoming AMD processors based on Zen architecture which will be known as Threadripper CPUs. According to iSportsTimes, the AMD Threadripper processors are expected to come around the second week of August.
First, Intel Core i9-7900X will be a full month and a half ahead of the AMD Threadripper processors. With its 10-core, 20-thread capabilities, Intel Core i9-7900X can easily reach 4.6GHz at less than 1.25V using a decent cooling system. Furthermore, Intel Core i9-7900X represents a big leap from its predecessors, thus, users are in for a big treat in terms of performance.
But more importantly, Intel has finally addressed its No. 1 problem - pricing. According to the review, the Intel Core i9-7900X cost 50 percent less than its predecessor, giving direct answers to tirades about being pricey.
In addition, based on tests and reviews, the Intel Core i9-7900X brings better performance with its restructured cache and higher clock speeds. Based on the test made by Bit-Tech, the Intel Core i9-7900X also was a better overclocker using the sample they have.
So what could go wrong which could make the Intel Core i9-7900X bow to AMD Threadripper CPUs? Based on the reviews, there is nothing more Intel should offer since it it's the least of all Core i9 processors. Remember, other Core i9 processors will come later - 12-core model in August, and the more powerful 14-, 16-, and 18-core models in October.
However, one thing's for certain - should the AMD Threadripper processors be able to summon 4.5GHz all-core on overclocks, that would be a different story. Meanwhile, the Intel Core i9-7900X is reportedly going to become available for pre-order starting June 19, 2017 for $999.
