Boston Celtics Trade: Super Team to Be Built With Another All-Star Targeted
Another Boston Celtics trade which would make them a super team again may soon be accomplished. There are recent reports stating that Boston included one more All-Star on its list of targeted players. Similar to the Celtics' previous targets, this player belongs to the Western Conference.
New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis is believed to be the new guy on Boston's radar. He is joining the likes of Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz), Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers), and Jimmy Butler (Chicago Bulls) who are also rumored to have captured the interest of the Celtics.
In a report by Yahoo! Sports, it was mentioned that Boston "would love to get its hands" on Davis. However, there are several factors that could prevent a Celtics trade from materializing. The 24-year-old is under contract until 2021 and New Orleans wants to see what the Anthony Davis-DeMarcus Cousins duo can accomplish.
Hardwood Houdini, on the other hand, listed some reasons why Boston might succeed in trading for Davis. First, the Pelicans have not achieved significant success with him. Since they drafted the versatile big man, they only made it to the NBA Playoffs once. Second are the roster changes that can happen in the future. Starting point guard Jrue Holiday is entering free agency this summer. Next year, Cousins' contract is going to expire and he is the one that will be available.
The only thing certain at this point is that Boston wants to acquire Davis. Unfortunately, accomplishing a Celtics trade to take him away from New Orleans is far from being a walk in the park. The good news is the C's have the assets like future draft picks and role players, that are coveted by teams in the NBA.
