NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Still Pursuing Paul Geore; Indiana Pacers Asking Too Much for All-Star
The NBA trade rumors are heating up and the Cleveland Cavaliers are joining the conversation. Cleveland reportedly still wants to have Paul George who recently told the Indiana Pacers he is leaving in 2018. However, adding the All-Star will be a difficult task for the Cavaliers with Indiana having great demands in exchange for him.
Cleveland remains a title contender in the NBA despite being dominated by the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals. Sadly, looking at the current Cavaliers roster, it does not have enough firepower to match their rivals. Because of this, suggestions on who should be acquired this summer started to circulate. George is one of the prominent players always mentioned when it comes to this matter.
Indeed Cleveland would look different with George being part of the team. He is likely to be a major upgrade for the Cavaliers as he joins LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
Unfortunately for Cleveland, completing an NBA trade for George is a tough one. Uproxx reported a tweet from David Aldridge who listed what the Pacers are looking to get in a deal for the 27-year-old. According to him, they want two first-round picks and a starting player.
Indiana's desires are bad news for the Cavaliers. Unlike other squads in the NBA, the Cavs are running low on draft picks. Then, it is uncertain who is the starter they could give up just to make this trade happen. Even if they faltered in the Finals, it can be expected that one of their goals is to keep the present core intact.
An NBA trade for George appears impossible for Cleveland at this point. Although there is a silver lining and that is the exclusion of the Los Angeles Lakers in the trade talks for the forward. Los Angeles is currently not a part of the discussions which is surprising to some.
