Get to Know Intel Core i9 Processors Extreme Edition: i9-7980XE, i9-7960X, i9-7940X and i9-7920X
The battle for supremacy among leading processors are getting more interesting as days go by as Intel is nearing its release of the first batch of Intel processors, three of which are based on the Skylake architecture. Speaking of Skylake processors, Intel will also come up with Extreme Edition, that is, processors with 12-, 14-, 16- and 18-Core CPUs.
According to The Motley Fool, the 12-core, 24-thread CPU which will be known as Intel Core i9-7920X is scheduled for release this coming August. But the more powerful CPUs - the 14-core 28-thread i9-7940X, the 16-core 32-thread i9-7960X, and the 18-core 36-thread i9-7980XE models will become available this coming October.
Unfortunately, we have limited details about the four powerful Intel Core i9 processors. Of course, we know the number of cores and threads each processors have; however, we still have yet to determine its Base Clock, Turbo Boost 2.0 and L3 Cache.
Based on the available specifications of these Intel Core i9 processors, there are some features for which these processors share. As collated by WCCFTech, all four Core i9 processors will have a Turbo Boost Max 3.0 of up to 4.5 GHz, Memory Support for Quad DDR4, 44 PCIe Lanes and LGA 2066 Socket Type.
